INCOWORD converts weird-looking phrases into smart word puzzles. You don’t use normal definitions or the patterns of letters; you say a weird phrase out loud, hear how it sounds, and find the genuine word lurking behind it.
INCOWORD: New Word Guessing
INCOWORD is basically a sound-based word guessing game. Each challenge shows you a bizarre phrase on a white card, and you have to read the phrase loudly until the pronunciation reveals a common term. When you think you know your answer, type it in the guessing section. After the row is complete, the game will automatically check your submission.
The white card is not just for decoration. Clicking it flips the card and displays a tip, offering another option to tackle a tough puzzle without just giving away the answer. The game has six difficulty levels for a solo game, dependent on the number of letters in a word (5 to 10), and multiplayer rooms to play against friends in real time.
How the Puzzle Fits Together
Each round is built around a white hint card with the sentence in a garbled form. The idea is to decode the phrase to find the secret word, not to read the text literally.
Read the Card, Then Say it Out Loud
The most crucial component is the pronunciation. What looks weird on the computer might be so much clearer when you speak naturally. Try not to pay attention to individual letters but rather listen to the sounds that are made as the words flow together.
Be Careful With the Flip-Card Hint
If you have a hard time with a phrase, click on the white card to flip it and get a clue. It could be the extra shove that is needed to make the pattern of the sound associate with a possible answer.
The way to get the most out of the clue is to think about it for a bit beforehand. If the phrase sounds like a word you know, maybe a second thorough reading can help. If there are multiple possible interpretations, the card flip can help narrow your ideas.
How to Play
Desktop
- Type letters on your keyboard to guess the word.
- Press Backspace to remove a letter.
- Click the white card to get a hint.
Mobile
- Tap “Show Keyboard” to bring up the on-screen keyboard.
- Tap the white card for a clue.
