The famous puzzle game Sudoku. Sudoku involves filling a 9x9 grid with 1–9 numbers in every row, column, and 3x3 region.

How to play Sudoku

Sudoku requires numbers from 1 to 9 in every column, row, and 3x3 area of a 9x9 grid. The 9x9 grid will have some squares filled when the game begins. Complete the grid using logic. Remember, a move is negative if

  • A row has several 1–9 numbers.
  • Any column has multiple 1–9 numbers.
  • Any 3x3 square has multiple 1–9 numbers.

Advice and tips

  • Tip 1: Find 3x3 spaces with 5+ numbers per row and column. Experiment with empty box numbers. Rows, columns, and 3x3 blocks limit number placement.
  • Tip 2: Imagine a grid with three rows and three columns. All large columns and rows will contain three 3x3 squares. Each column or grid should have two identical numbers. Thus, the remaining 9-cell component must contain a third duplicate of the same number. Search the final 9 spaces for the missing number.
